La Encina Active Resort - Murcia, Costa Calida
La Encina Active Resort is a new, innovative and unique resort targeted in the main (but not exclusively) to the over 50's who are looking for a retirement home in a secure, luxury and active environment in the sun. La Encina is nestled in the countryside between the typically Spanish towns of Archena and Mula in the province of Murcia, South-East Spain. It is only 25 minutes from the vibrant, cultural city of Murcia, and is 45 minutes from the beaches of the Mar Menor and Costa Blanca. The nearest airport is San Javier which is 45 minutes by car.
The resort itself is a low density build of only 15% and covers an expansive area of 220.000m2. The project is being built in conjunction with one of Europe's largest insurance and medical companies, MAPFRE, whose expertise will help create a resort of top class 24 hour medical care and facilities on site. Advanced technology will ensure a secure resort with facilities such as emergency call buttons in the properties and a direct intercom system with the main centre.

There is a choice of properties ranging from 1 or 2 bed apartments, 2 bed townhouses and 2 bed detached villas. The apartments start at 74m2 and come with 1 or 2 bathrooms, a large terrace, sitting room, kitchen and storage. The first floor apartments have fantastic private roof terraces and the ground floor properties come with their own private garden. Prices for the 1 bed start at a very reasonable 117.000 euros and the 2 beds at only 149.900 euros.
The detached villas come with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are on a good sized plot of 200m2 with a large patio area, pergolas, car port and private roof terrace. These are very well priced at only 183.000 euros. The semi-detached are very similar but have a smaller garden area and start at 168.250 euros.
All the properties on La Encina include fitted wardrobes in the bedrooms and are fitted with hot/cold air-conditioning. The kitchens come furnished with hob, oven, fridge and dishwasher. One of the unique characteristics of the properties is the home automation system which includes automatic blinds, smoke and water leak detectors and puller-pusher alert buttons.
The resort is in the very early stages of construction and is due for completion with services in operation in the second half of 2010.
